Children love to play hide and seek in the house, as there are many rooms to hide in.

Over the last 20 years the property has undergone extensive restoration works.
Most recent works are: In 2015 the very old sash windows were replaced with modern double glazed sash windows, and in 2016 the roof of the house was renewed, and the insulation upgraded to modern standards, making the house a lot more energy friendly. The house also benefits from solar power.

“Great place to stay for walkers.”

 Reviewed 1 Oct 2019

We booked the house for an early birthday meet up. The house is spotlessly clean and has a really large dining table which seated 12 adults easily. It made socialising over dinner really pleasant. There are five bedrooms two of which have good size bunk beds as well as the large bed. Kitchen is well equipped with everything you need to cater for a large group. You can walk to Robin Hoods bay on the old railway line and return on the coastal Cleveland way it is about 7 and a bit miles. The walk in to Whitby is very simple and the return again along the Cleveland way. This is a little bit shorter I think. For those in the party who want to be more relaxed the Scarborough to Whitby bus goes past the door and at very regular intervals.

“Grange Farm Cottage”

We has a great time staying at Grange Farm Cottage. It was big and clean and well maintained. There are only 2 bathrooms and one of those is ensuite. It wasn't really a problem though as there are 2 other separate loos. It's in a great position for getting out and about. There is a 1.5 hour loveky walk into Robin's Hood Bay and it is not far from Whitby and Scarborough. The kitchen is a bit dated but was well equipped. We were a party of 6 adults and 7 kids and I would definitely recommend. Denise, who runs the Cottage was very helpful and accommodating.

Owner's reply: Thank you for the review. Glad to hear that you had a great time.

everything you need for a very comfortable family weekend. Plenty of space for the 8 adults and 5 children, good well equipped kitchen and great large dining room / table. Handy to have sinks in the bedrooms to minimise bathroom time! property located on the cinder track for easy walk into robin hoods bay or whitby (roughly an hour each way). recommended. host was helpful, on hand and friendly.

Owner's reply: Thank you very much for the lovely review, it is much appreciated.

This is a very well equipped and comfortable house, all amenities were provided and there was ample kitchen crockery pans etc for a large number. The house was warm throughout which was essential given the outside temperature. We were a large family group with small children and there was plenty of room to spread our downstairs. The location is ideal for visiting Whitby and Robin Hoods Bay.The owner was most helpful and made our stay very relaxed and welcome. I would highly recommend it.

We took a family break here in August 2016 (15 people). It was great for what we wanted which was a base to explore Whitby and the surrounding area. The kids loved the size of the house and all the rooms. The house is very clean and tidy and the owners are very welcoming, helpful and considerate This is the second time we have stayed here and we have been very impressed with it and definitely would return again.

“An excellent house for a big group in a great location”

We loved this house. It is really roomy and comfortable with several living spaces space for an extended family stay. It's in a quiet location just off the main road but excellently located for easy access to Whitby, robins hood bay, staithes, Scarborough etc all great days out. The accommodation was spotless when we arrived and really well stocked for a large group. We holiday in large houses once a year and this has definitely been one of the best we've stayed in.

Owner's reply: Thank you for your lovely review. We are pleased you enjoyed your stay, and hope to welcome you again in the future.

“Grange Farm Cottage was an excellent place to celebrate my 7Oth Birthday.”

We very much enjoyed our stay at Grange Farm. The house is so spacious and warm and comfortable, and it was an ideal place for my family and friends to stay and help me celebrate my 70th birthday. Whitby is such a magical place and holds many happy memories, and this last holiday was no exception. Grange Farm is very well equipped and we lacked nothing, and is ideally placed for access to many lovely walks, including the Cleveland Way. I would certainly recommend it to anyone.
